Quick Overview

Sir Giles, an MP of few principles, decides to build a motorway through a particularly picturesque piece of England, but he has reckoned without his wife, Lady Maude, and her enigmatic gardener, Blott. From the author of ANCESTRAL VICES, THE MIDDEN and WILT.

Pure farce...often very rude indeed! Skulduggery at stately homes, dirty work at the planning inquiry, and the villains falling satisfactorily up to their ears in the minestrone. The heroine breakfasts on broken bottles, wears barbed wire next to the skin and stops at nothing to protect her ancestral manse from a motorway construction. Very, Very English!
